Masonry Grid with titles

I have recently started to use Elementor and struggling with this problem unable to find answers from other Elementor groups so hope you can help. I am trying to replicate a page (see attached) which was previously created using WP Bakery. The problem with using Elementor is I cannot get different depth images to interlock masonry style unless I use the built in widget. The problem with that is their doesn't appear to be any provision for adding a title at the bottom of each image or for that matter a background colour to the text. Is there an uncomplicated way to achieve this? Any help really appreciated as losing the will to live.
