How to use Self Hosted videos in the Media Carousel widget?

Hello!

Is there a way to use a Self Hosted video in the Media Carousel widget? For some reason I can only use a Youtube or Vimeo link, yet with the Video widget the Self Hosted video option is available and working.

Is there a way to by-pass this annoying limitation in the Media Carousel widget?
