Background image slideshow slow down site

Hi everyone,
I created an home page with 8 columns ( tsphoto.it) , any column have a background image slideshow ,
with hundreds of images, I noticed that the site has slowed down a lot, as if the images were downloaded all together, is it not possible to load the images only as they are displayed?

I don't know if I was able to explain myself

Alternatively does anyone know of an alternative that I could use?

Download and activate the WPRocket plugin. it will speed up your website.
Activate the Lazy Load feature, which will load the images only when necessary.
