Hero section covers the sidebar

I want my page to have a full width hero section at the top, which will be an image, and then have regular content and the default sidebar below that. However, when i set that first section to full width, the sidebar stays to the right. When i activate stretch the hero sections covers the sidebar. What am i doing wrong?
