Hello!
I had a fairly general question and was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I'm working for a client abroad who would like some help designing a website for charitable causes. Having used Elementor to create basic websites before, I agreed to help. A major part of the project involves creating a donation portal for a nonprofit organization. However, being that the work is being conducted in Central America, no preexisting widgets that I could find allow for donations in the local currency. If anybody knows of a payment widget that allows for donations in a wide variety of currencies, that would be very helpful. I tried using WooCommerce, but their interactions with Elementor are so rigid that I am trying to avoid their utilities as much as possible. I am also trying to avoid paid solutions, as the organization I am working with has a tight budget.
I've tried using the Better Payments widget available through Elementor Essential Add-ons, but it only allows for a small set of currencies. My immediate thought was to somehow make edits in code to this existing plugin to allow for more currencies, but I am sure that the plugin creator has obscured the base code. Even if I could have access to this base code, there is no guarantee I would be allowed to use a modified version of the software. So failing this option, I know I could build an entirely new plugin directly in PHP. That task feels daunting to say the least, as I have only ever used Java to code, and even that in very limited capacities. If this is the best course of action for me, however, I would love some suggestions on where to start, particularly in regards to integrating PHP with Elementor. There are obviously many PHP tutorials online, but few teach PHP with that sort of end goal in mind. Let me know what you think!
